In 1941, special representative Saburo Kurusu was dispatched to Washington to heal relations between the United States and the Empire of Japan.
In 1942, hostilities between British and Vichy forces in Madagascar ended.
In 1943, Halsey's Task Force 38 attacked the Japanese fleet at Rabaul, causing serious damage.
