In 1776, Mission San Juan Capistrano was founded in California.
In 1944, responding to Allied advances in the Leyte campaign, Imperial Army General Yamashita formed the 35th Army out of the remains of 16th, 30th and 102nd Divisions, commanded by Gen. Suzuki.
